This Throwing Knife is made here in the USA. The blade is made of 4140 steel, has heavy leather for the handle scales, held on with screw rivets. With the way the handle is designed, you can get a firm grip on the knife and feels great in your hand. When throwing, the handle is designed to leave your hand smoothly. The knife blade measures 8 1/2" long and the overall lenght is 14", blade thickness is 3/16" and weight about 15oz. These knives can also be used as a camp knife as they will hold a good cutting edge. I have even used one of these to split kindling for my camp fire. These knives have won many competitions at events and are simply the best on the market. I have personal used these knives and highly recommend them for anyone who wants to compete in knife throwing competitions at a rendevous. This is a heavy duty knife and can handle the rigors of knife throwing.I have personally witness the abuse some of these knives have taken from first time throwers. There are several knock offs of this knife on the market which sell cheaper, but there quality does not even come close to the high quality of these knives. This listing is for one knife. The sheath can be purchased in the store in the knife catagory.
This sheath is made to fit the H & B knife that we sell. The sheath is made of heavy 9/10 oz. leather, molded to fit the knife The knife fits snug in the sheath, which is what you want. The sheath has a loop on the under side to attach to your belt. The leather color may be different than shown, it may be darker or lighter we have no control over the color. You are buying just the sheath, the knife is not included.
Knife-Crafters made knives in Philadelphia in the 1930's and 1940's.
Giles Wertherill was the owner and made mostly very expensive custom knives.
This particular throwing knife was called .....the Phantom ......and is very rare in this excellent vintage condition.
No rust or damage...... The knife has been used......carried and possibly sharpened.
The original sheath is included. It is in very good condition.
Please note some Knife-Crafter history:
In the 1940's other people became involved in the company and some of their knives made their way to war zones during WW2.
Their most famous and desirable knives were made from cut down swords. Patton swords were cut in three (3) pieces and made into magnificent knives. The knife in my personal collection that is the most amazing was made by Knife-Crafters from a cut-down Civil War sword.
They were an important knife company during a critical time in American history.
